Management Team

Paul Gregory, Chairman

After completing his Doctorate at Business School, Paul spent 7 years as an investment analyst in a top-rated oil & gas team at a leading stockbroker.

Paul managed Wood Mackenzie Consultants for 13 years during a period when it was owned by a large investment bank.  In December 2001, he led a management buy-out of the business as Wood Mackenzie Ltd. Wood Mackenzie is a world-class content, analytics and consulting business operating in the energy sector. Paul continued as Chief Executive of Wood Mackenzie until 2007, when he stepped up to become Deputy Chairman.  In 2009 he became Chairman of Wood Mackenzie.

Paul was appointed Chairman of Barrie & Hibbert in December 2008.

Andy Frepp, Chief Executive

Andy Frepp
A graduate in Mathematics, with an MBA and a qualified Actuary, Andy has over 20 years’ experience in the life insurance, asset management and retail financial services industries.

Before joining Barrie & Hibbert, Andy was the Director of Marketing & Distribution for one of the UK’s largest asset managers.

Shona Quigley, Finance Director

Shona has a wealth of experience with over 14 years' as a chartered accountant and 3 years' board level experience. She brings a wealth of broad commercial insight, significant exposure to external financiers and experience of working in a dynamic growing organisation. Shona joined Barrie & Hibbert from Intergen (UK) Limited.


Andrew Barrie, Director & Founder

Andrew Barrie

Andrew is a mathematics graduate with more than 20 years' industry experience in both life insurance and investment banking.  Before setting up Barrie & Hibbert, he was responsible for one of the UK's top-rated equity derivatives operations at a major investment bank.

John Hibbert, Director & Founder

John Hibbert

A graduate in economics and accounting, and then operational research, John has more than 25 years’ experience in the life insurance, asset management and securities industries.

Before founding Barrie & Hibbert, he led the equity quantitative research team at a major investment bank and was voted the city’s top quantitative analyst. Until recently, John led the development of Barrie & Hibbert’s ‘Economic Scenario Generator’ (capital market modelling) business. He is now involved in a wide range of research and consulting activities as well as serving as a board director.

John has contributed to Barrie & Hibbert’s considerable library of research material as well as journals and other industry publications. In August 2008, John was appointed an Honorary Professor in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot Watt University.

Craig Turnbull, Regional Head, North America 

Craig joined Barrie & Hibbert in 2000 after graduating in mathematics, statistics and finance and spending a year at Watson Wyatt Investment Consultants. He qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2003.

Craig has worked in the Insurance ALM area throughout his Barrie & Hibbert career, developing research and leading consultancy and client support to clients in Europe, South Africa and North America.

In February 2008, Craig moved to New York City to open Barrie & Hibbert’s first office outside the UK.
 

Edward Emanuel, Regional Head, EMEA 

Ed is responsible for business development and relationship management for Barrie & Hibbert in EMEA. Through this, Ed works closely with Barrie & Hibbert’s clients across all areas of the business and internally with research and product management, providing market feedback to assist in the direction of the models. Ed was previously a Director of Client Solutions at Moody’s KMV focusing on delivering credit analytics and portfolio management products and services in EMEA and APAC.

Ed holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand and an Economics degree from the University of California at Berkeley, USA


Shailendra Jain, Regional Head, Asia Pacific

A post graduate in Finance and Accounting and an MBA from Kellogg School of Business, Shailendra has gained valuable experience in the area of Business Development, Relationship Management and Risk Management over the past eight years in Hong Kong.

Prior to joining Barrie & Hibbert, Shailendra was Director of Credit Risk Specialist group at Moody’s KMV, responsible for business development across Asia Pacific. Shailendra has held various positions at Moody’s and UBS Warburg in the area of consulting, market operations and project management.

He brings region specific knowledge of risk management trends, regulations, processes and cultures.
